Molecules Lab - 9/17/2012

Models for: Water, Oxygen, Cardon Dioxide and Carboxylic Acid.

This is the model for Glucose!

The model for a phospholipids. A phospholipids regulate what goes in and out of the cell polar head like water while fatty and tails. It's hydrophobic - hates water!

pH Lab 9/12/2012

For the third lab we did a pH scale based lab. We had 13 solutions and we had to find the meter, paper pH level, AVG and ANB.

Before that I had tap water in a beaker and used a dropper to add 10 drops of Bromothymol blue in it then blew into a straw. We blow out carbon and water is an acid therefore the solution is carboniacid, it was blue but went from basic solution to a acidic solution (yellow) by producing carbonic acid from my breath!

Solutions: H2O, Buffer, Ammonia, Vinegar

Solutions: Lemon Juice, Coffee, Rolaid, Detergent

Solutions: Diet Coke and Lemon Low Concetration

Solutions: Baking Soda, Bleach and Coke

The final inputs of our lab!

Metric Measurements Lab 8/29/2012

Our first lab was a measurement lab, we had metric conversions like the ones that are in the picture below. We measured the diameter of a penny in millimeters and then converted to centimeters and meters!

Rat Dissection - 9/10/2012

For the second lab in class we were to dissect a rat and identify the body parts such as the thoracic organs and abdominal organs. We also saw the difference in a male and female rat.

The comparison with the rat body vs the human body

This is a male rat, you can see its testis.

Getting our rat ready to be tight down with twine!
We had a female rat and luckily wasn't pregnant!

All open! This is AFTER we rinse the rat because we had cut to deep and made a hole in the small intestine and we had fetus everywhere!

We removed the ribs!
