Mitosis/Meiosis Lab

Mitosis and Meiosis Lab was interesting! I video recorded Mr. Stowe teaching about Mitosis but Blogger wouldn't let me attach it to the blog. But here are a few pictures of the male and female reproductive system. And pictures of Mr Stowe!

Diffusion Lab

Potato- Distilled water makes it fell hard-stiff
Salt water - feels more plimfy=moveable and slangy hypertonic.

Celery - salt water - soft feeling
distilled water - made it harder hypertonic

Osmosis Lab

Anaerobic and Aerobic Yeast Lab

We added yeast to solutions to determine if they were a monosaccharide, polysaccharide, disaccharide or a protein. We tested fructose, glucose, lactose, and distilled water. The solutions started at 15 ml and we added .5 g or yeast to each.

This are the solutions and with the compounds that formed
Fructose- 10.5 monosaccharide
Glucose- 18 monosaccharide
Lactose 1.5 polysaccharide
Distilled water- 0
Starch- 0 polysaccharide
Maltose- 9.9 disaccharide
Gelatin- 0 protein

Enzyme Lab

The enzyme lab was pretty interesting. We tested it with liver and potatoes. We found out that the warmer the temperature was the higher the enzyme activity.
This is the information we got for our experiments.
